May not belong, but I just had to share with my buddies:

Last week I got fired from my newspaper marketing department job of 10 years. (they got a screen shot of my computer where I was invoicing a freelance design client) The next day I scored another graphic design job with a small, hip, crazy ass marketing firm here in town for ALOT more money, and today was my first day.

I just feel so lucky, and at the same time, accomplished, that I was able to make a bad situation so much better. Let this be a lesson to anyone who's feeling sorry for themselves in a shitty economy: don't let it keep you from kicking ass.

My online presence is dramatically decreased because I'm really challenged at the new gig, and I love it!

If you get the chance, change your scene and make it better.

Totally belongs. When I got out of grad school I took a job in a small school where my colleagues said "what are you doing?" and in 3 years created a pretty relevant program. I moved to a slightly larger school which had absolutly nothing going for it and my colleages thought I lost my mind. The school had no operational equipment for teaching anything. Within 4 years the district was recognized as one of the top school districts for music education in the country.

My point is, (generally speaking and not to offend anyone) keep your nose clean, use your ears more and (in clasic Chicago dialect) QUIT CHORE BITCHIN" Turn questions into answers that create more questions. That is the heart of creativity. Make people smile for no reason. Give the people you work with the oppotuinity to remember being young again. Turn shit into pudding. Turn straw into gold. Don't limit your creativity or talent.

Now I'm done. For now. Longest post I ever wrote.

Glad to hear that the GAR is back in action. Live long and prosper. Sorry, wrong forum. MTFBWTA

Nice feedback Brother Bob, I appreciate it, really I do.

Just for fun, here's my profile I set up today at my new job's website...

http://www.starrtincup.com/profile/JBlakeHooser

Don't ask me to explain anything on there, I'm still trying to figure it out. Crazy cool site though that gives a good impression of the impressive wackyness of the new gig.

Actuallynot to be too picky, but maybe Sound Off would be a better place for this kind of thing. That said...

Congratulations! I'm happy to hear about some god happening in these bad times for jobs and shit. On one hand I myself am scared of what lies ahead job-wise when I return to the States. However, I am not worried because I won't be homeless, I'm smart, resourceful, charming, good-looking and well-hung. I can also draw and do that graphic design stuff, too. I know I have options and friends and family back there, so I won't be up any creeks sans paddle.
Right now I'm totally enjoying Japan without an iota of regret. If I dwell on the bad shit that might be, it will come to me. I will focus on the positive, and in the meantime put in the work while I'm here to help the situation on my arrival.

Bob's story is true, I have lived through it everytime he's faced adversity from within and from without to the positive changes he's done to schools. Sure, there are bad days and sure, shit really does happen to good people, but I believe that if you radiate that negativity, it'll come a knocking more than the good luck. It's true: Misery loves company, and so is the old Jewish saying about how talking abut the worst will bring it about.

The company looks cool, man. Go, GAR, go!

Right on GAR!

It's not only with jobs, it's with everything! I remember Mikey mentioning 'The Secret' in a long ago episode. Pop fluff to some, but the idea is bang-on. Positive thinking is the key to it all, VORinians and fellow VORites.

The haters, malcontents and nay-sayers put themselves in their own plight, while the sharp-eyes people who can smile through anything always come out ahead.

I also have a big cock.
I know that will help with my issues.
Full steam ahead!

True, maybe that' why I'm not as worried as some people. Good point, JB!

Glad to hear you come out on top brother.

Jobs and such are a huge issue over in KBP land, so it's nice to hear some good news for once :)

New site for the new gig just launched. Thought you guys would get a kick out of seeing it.

www.starrtincup.com

check out the "about us" part. Good fun.

The good-time quiz would be: guess who I played D&D with today, lol
