Well, Ion Storm thought it was awesome....the rest of us in the industry was laughing our asses off.
What a waste of capital.

And Romero never did make any of us his bitch.

Every game I ever worked on made more money than Daikatana, and I worked on some really crap games.

The last few posts - feels like those parts of KBPod where I know nothing about what they're talking about.

It was probably around the same time he was still doing that Killcreek girly. I remember some mag cover that had her, American McGee, and one or two other dudes as the next bad asses in game design.

Yeah, I think video games are more fickle than other medias. When you think of top tier game designers, it's a lot harder than thinking of people in say, movies or music. A lot of the guess you'll think of too aren't really "rock star" type guys. It's more your Will Wrights or Sid Meier type of guys. If they're hyped up as being Rockstars and their name is not "Cliffy B", they're nothing more than a fad.

Speaking from inside the industry, the best designers are names you'll never hear.

Anytime you have a "celebrity" in gaming, they're taking away from the real focus: the games.

Be wary of that.

I don't work in the game industry but I fully agree with Joel. I think this can apply to a lot of things.

Won't find any celebrites here. Just good creative conversation. Some of us more conversationally creative than others.

A joke. That's what lol

But seriously, there are people that make a career out of fooling people into thinking that there is such a thing as "Professional" game players. You also have game designers that spend time making funny little catch phrases and going to "events" when they should be using that time to making good games.

I respect people that make a career out of video games. Designing, coding, writing or what have you, but getting paid to play games is stupid outside of a testing environment. Then there are these developers that just would rather spend time explaining why their game is good than just make it good to begin with. I'm looking at you Too Human.

Like I said, there are only be a few guys that deserve the hype they get. People like Will Wright that has great ideas and a good team that helps him bring that idea to life.
