Anyone else hear the collecting cast this week? The show in general has it's issues, I know, but it's not every day you hear a half hour interview with Darryl Depriest, head of Hasbro's Star Wars line.

Some highlights:

• Interesting to hear Jimmy and Jason rail on some of the shortcomings of the line in the first segment. Good Lord Jason hates the EU.

• Darryl thinks there haven't been any peg warmers since ROTS. Fucking laughable.

• Darryl manages to poke fun at the Yarna peg warming, but at the same time, manages to pretty much avoid any responsibility for said disaster.

Anyone else hear it? Thoughts?

Yeah I heard the podcast. It was interesting, probably one of the most interesting I've heard from them which isn't saying alot. I actually agree with Jason's disdain for EU figures, but if it sells then I won't complain. Actually I'm not sure how well they are doing, as I see these comic packs everywhere. Often I see more comic packs than single carded figures.

I particularly didn't agree with Darryl Depriest's thoughts on the Legacy line. He said that it is doing bad and that Clone Wars and Saga Legends are doing well. Go out to your stores and tell me what you see. Clone Wars and Saga Legends. This is even worse for me because outside of a few snowtroopers I haven't purchased any of these collections. I think this is poor representation of the line and shows their lack of forsite. Who at Hasbro thought that Yarna warranted the supply they gave. Any knowledgable collector could have told you kids aren't going to purchase her.

I think the lack of legacy success is in the lack of product on shelves. It is all I buy and am even remotely interested in. The most of any complete Legacy wave I have seen on shelves in the past 6 months is 2 sets. While the Clone Wars have had, and currently have flooded the pegs.

I am fine with the success of the Clone Wars line, it was pretty predictable. The show is ok to me, but collecting the figures for this is like starting over to me. That and I'm collecting other lines, which is another reason I think numbers maybe down. I've heard of alot of people completely quitting hasbro and going Sideshow. I'm not going that route, but it is understandable.

Now if they keep cutting "collector figures" and keep packing Saga Legends and Greatest Hits in with the Legacy line cases then I may just have to pass all together. I think they should be putting only Legacy figures in Legacy cases, not repacks like they have been. I like the build-a droid idea but the kessel runs have had very little to do with Star Wars for the last 6 months. They are losing me, and I think alot of other collectors. I hope the Clone Wars lasts a long time for hasbro, because if they keep their current model I think alot of collectors are moving elsewhere.

Now, I hadn't listened to the podcast in question...I doubt I will...

But, I did have to mention something I had been thinking recently about the figures.

While I don't necessarily really get into the EU books like the New Jedi Order and whatnot, I am beyond perplexed as to why they haven't created more EU figures.

If they're going out of their way to make the ice cream maker guy from Bespin, then why isn't Jaina and Jacen on the production schedule?

The Solo twins at least have REAL fans!

My only gripe about the EU figures released so far is the figures themselves aren't that great....some have pretty good articulation, but most are fairly goofy.

I think Hasbro stated that they'll only make figures of EU characters that have had a visual appearance (comic books, CW, etc.). Now that we're getting a NJO comic series, I would hope that characters like Jacen and Jaina will be coming down the line...

You probably should man. I find it fun to hear what's going on such as upcoming figures, and you get that madness that goes with it. You won't know whether you're pissin' or cummin' when you hear it.

They mentioned an upcoming articulated Gamorrean Guard, Dengar and Zuckuss, and some other stuff.
